It interrupted cricket with a score on the board,

As they lay down the bat,

Tomorrow they’ll be leaving the kids on the street,

Is all the notice they’ll get,

The neighbours dogs are barking,

They’re used to it,

It’s been six months or more,

Soon they’ll be unpacking but there’s things that they’ll leave in the boxes instead,

One of them will cry the others happy to get into another bed,

Once they all protested but they’re over it,

They’ve moved twelve times or more,

As the truck bumps,

Down the path away,

No one says a word as they pass through the gate,

They eat a box of chocolates that they get on the way,

And press the wrappers flat,

They stop in at the station to stop the bottles rattling,

Somewhere in the back,

No ones really talking,

They’re over it,

But they remember what to say,

As the truck bumps,

Down the path away,

Make a wish now everyone,

As they pass through the gate,

Oh there they go,

Off to a new home,

Oh there they go,

Off to a new home,

Tomorrow she’ll be waiting with the kids at the swings,

At the Town Hall Park,

They come to sit together as she shuffles the deck,

As the day grows dark,

No one is complaining,

They’re used to it,

They’re just thinking ’bout their score,

As the truck bumps,

Down the path away,

Make a wish now everyone,

As they pass through the gate,

Oh there they go,

Off to a new home,

Oh there they go,

Off to a new home,
