Child

You got it wrong,
He got it right,
So many times,
It’s a big world that you made him fight,
So many times,
Bare feet on the kitchen chair,
So many nights,
Looking out for you on the street,
So many times,
But if I could be there,
Holding his hand,
Watching him waiting for his old man,
I’d hold him in my arms,
Lift him up,
But you know I can’t,
I can’t help that child,
He’s waiting for you,
I can’t help that child he’s waiting for change,
Change,
Big shot,
You’re the king of the road,
Driving in your car,
Throw your money into the ring,
Of a late night bar,
Like a loner with nothing to do and with nothing to lose,
You don’t hear and you don’t see him calling for you,
But if I could drag you off your feet,
Take you to the hills where you could see,
Around you,
Open your eyes,
See a little bird learning how to fly,
I can’t help that child,
He’s waiting for you,
I can’t help that child he’s waiting for change,
Change,
The big world keeps spinning,
The big world keeps crashing in,
The big world’s not changing,
The big world’s too much for him,
But if I could be there,
Holding his hand,
Watching him waiting,
Trying to understand,
I’d hold him in my arms,
Lift him up,
But you know I can’t,
I can’t help that child,
He’s waiting for you,
I can’t help that child,
He’s waiting for you,
I can’t help that child,
He’s waiting for you,
I can’t help that child,
He’s waiting for you
