Upstairs Sando this Wed (18th March)

Lenni Munro, Simon Cant and I are performing together for the first time this Wednesday night in the upstairs band room at The Sando in Newtown. We are also joined by Andrew P Street, who we are lucky to have performing a set for us. Simon Cant and I will be singing a number of Simon’s songs to open the night and I am really looking forward to this. He is a fantastic songwriter and singer and his songs really suit the harmony lines we have worked out, so I can’t wait!
Next up will be Andrew P Street, who I am really looking forward to hearing. It is a night of original music so it is always good to hear someone new (to me at least).
Lenni will be performing a set of her amazing songs and then joining me for a set of my tunes with Stephen Ralph on violin.

Hope you can make it.

Kalamunda Mentals support

Recently I was in Kalamunda and I was asked if I was interested in supporting Mental as Anything for the 1st weekend in March. I was stoked of course, as they have always been a great Australian band, and I had never seen them live. They were fantastic and everyone had a great night. It was a really fun gig to play, being outdoors as the sun was setting and playing on a great sound system. I had a pretty upbeat set list as far as my tunes go, and I felt that it went down pretty well- using my stompbox to drive the songs along, meaning I could just relax and enjoy the vibe.

Anyway back to Sydney town and have a few gigs this weekend. I’ve got an early set at the  East Leagues Club from 4:30 til 7:30 in Bondi Junction tomorrow (Friday 6th March) and the Nags Head in Glebe on Saturday night (7th March) from 8:30 til late.

If you can make it along to any of them, come up and say Hi.

Recording from the Basement in January

Lenni Munro, who performed her own stunning set and sung with me on my tunes, has just passed on to me  the live recording from our January date at The Basement together. Chris, who engineers the sound there, and who does such an awesome job, put together a CD of the night and I’m stoked with the tones, levels and atmosphere that he has captured. I am currently in the process of working with him on a couple of songs from that night which I will hopefully  be able to post soon as it is not often I get to play such a beautiful piano and have Lenni and Michael’s harmonies all at once.

As far as the weekend of music went, it was a lot of fun with Laura and Emma making it to Botany for our Waterworks duo gig with Steve on violin. We met a great couple, and the girl was a great singer and guitarist, just touring with Adam Brand, and she played for a us some of her songs, which were fantastic! If you want to her some of her songs her myspace link is http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=452313649

Waterworks Hotel this Saturday night

Waterworks Hotel is a great pub in Botany. It is one of those venues that really supports live music, with a stage and in house P.A. system that sounds really good. If you feel like discovering somewhere new and are into a very relaxed night of tunes then you would probably have a great time if you came along. Steve plays with me on violin and we have an awesome time playing so you feel like coming it would be great to see you there. We play from about 8 til 11 this Sat night, the 21st Feb. Waterworks Hotel is at 1102 Botany Road, Botany
